I’m Dr. Princess Fumi Hancock, a board-certified psychiatric mental health doctor of nurse practice. I wanted to bring your attention to a recent article from The Hill. The Surgeon General has issued an advisory stating that social media contributes to a youth mental health crisis. Today, let’s discuss the impact of social media, especially on our youth during the COVID-19 pandemic. Cyberbullying, misinformation, and dangerous influences are prevalent, and harmful content impacts our children’s well-being. Parents must monitor their children’s online activities. Teachers face challenges too, with bullying and misinformation affecting their work. As parents, educators, and influencers, we must take responsibility and create a safe and positive online environment for our youth. Let’s take responsibility, be good role models, and prioritize our children’s well-being. Join me on this journey of spreading awareness and making a positive change.
